Thoughts About Silence

There is someone I feel love for
at least my heart beats faster when we talk
and I dream of her softness and care
and imagine holding her hand when we walk
She tells me Silence is her virtue
and to that I think I can attest
her silence, seems to hurt inside lately
as I'm not certain if she cares or is putting me to test
I think she's right, by the way, that a virtue it is and must be
but I looked up a list of virtues to make it plain to me
and there it was with other virtures like faith, hope, charity
and other qualities whose wisdom is more plain to see
But Silence hurts me and so is a mystery to me
A very great woman said the "Fruit of Silence is Prayer
The Fruit of Prayer is Faith. The Fruit of Faith is Love and
the fruit of Love is Silence"  Now I vaguely understand and see
But I am one to try to understand, and just can't let it be
Silence was a virture to Ben Franklin; one of his thirteen
along with the likes of Sincerity, Humility, Frugality
which lately are not such strangers to me
Of Silence he said
"Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself"
But of love or care, I don't think he meant
to put your thoughts and feelings on the shelf
So I wonder if she cares for me at all
if she would trouble herself to say it to me
because such simple words might mean so much, you see
to the part inside that hurting for her care that is pure and free
I long to know only if there is a hint of possibility
Because she arlready means so much to me
So, in Silent prayer I pray for strength of patience to let things be
Hoping Love to be the fruit to blossom upon Faith's tree
