Trusting You

Sound asleep in my lover's bed,
A kiss you place upon my head.
You quietly cross the bedroom floor,
And gently close the squeaky door.

Each morning at dawn before you go,
You place a love note on my pillow.
You assure me that you love me true,
And remind me of things we love to do.

Your day is long and full of stress,
You mix with people who smartly dress.
They flirt and tell you how they feel,
Over a drink or fancy meal.

You have to escort them around the town,
And tell them you're up when feeling down.
They tell you about their private lives,
Of boring husbands and cheating wives.

You can be delayed, often late,
If for business you have a date.
Your clients love to see you home,
Allowing their imagination to freely roam.

To overseees conventions you sometimes go,
Where food and drink, they freely flow.
Often I think of your party mood,
Where your friendly talk is misunderstood.

When to me you finally return,
Where my flame for you will always burn,
I say a prayer for you and me,
Let our trust in each other forever be.

Hi,

Thanks for your nice comment on my poems.

What is your poem "laman" about and what language do you write in? Very intriguing.

"Laman" is written in the Tagalog language. It's the regional dialect that's been standardized in the schools in the Philippines, and the most widely spoken language (besides English) as a result of it. Basically it talks about a man who is not only obsessed by the outside features of a woman (e.g. the curves of her body, her seductiveness when she dances onto the dance floor, etc.), but also wants everything about her from the inside out. In short, he is truly, deeply, but mostly madly falling for her.

Hi Gil,

Many thanks for the description and advice on "Laman" and Tagalog. Reads like a good subject for a poem :)
