	He has gone home for a month and half. We talk regularly on the phone while he is still on vacation. Our phone conversations are teeming with ‘I miss you.’ Do we sound like a couple? Is a label important when the intention seem clear? “I would not have pursued you if I did not like you. You’re by far the best I have had.” He continues with compliments and I was never good at receiving them. Then it happened: he said I love you. Once again I pretended I did not hear even when he repeated it. He was sleepy at the time, can I believe him? He has not said it again but he made my heart flutter with excitement and dread. Will this become what I have always experienced? Falling in love only to watch as all the passion slips? He believes that passion develops into something different and lasting. Would that be true? What if all we’re feeling right now is the rush of hormones that he has mistaken for love? Will I be influenced by his declaration? Will he say it again? Will we ever talk about what we are to each other? We talked about a trip to Morocco, is that his way of saying he sees me as much more than another girl? I am guarded and I told him so and he asks why when he has all his down. Then why can’t he broach the subject? Is the struggle for power merely a silly idea in my head when all signs says he has relinquished his heart to me?
