To die, to sleep

Take this heart
and scratch it raw
sever these arms and
seal these lips
and gnaw at every bone

for they betray me
with their lust

stoke the flame
that burns so fierce
enflaming all these walls

this heart so small
has beat it's last
for pain has conquered all

poison dilutes the blood
that flows throughout these veins
it seldom sleeps
passionate in it's duty of
feeding on what's left of life

the euphoria is extreme
the numbness is a gift
such a blessing

ah, to feel nothing
immunity from pain
the bliss of it

I look at myself
and watch death approach
Being scared wasn't an option
instead, I stood my ground
and embraced him like a lover.
Looked him in the eye and smiled.
