What to say

the sun and my home

The summer sun is fading fast
And too, the heat she does deliver
Warmth, in her absence, will not last
The thought alone will make me shiver

I wonder where it is she goes,
What home it is she travels to?
A place of rest at night, she knows
Will give her strength for morning new.

I think about the home I keep
So sad that place won't do the same
For even when I go to sleep
My dreams at night are cause to blame

What lonely spot may I find rest
To plant my weary aching bones?
Relieve the cries of my footsteps
To sit upon a wayward stone?

But rest assured, as I was taught
There is no rest for fading sun.
She sails across the sky, distraught
In truth, her journey just begun.

And so you see, we are a pair.
Two travellers on endless roads.
The sun and I walk in despair
Nothing left but the unknown
