silent sorrow

He walks alone in the quiet snow
a white dove flutters from it's roost
he feels it's presence but doesn't turn to see
He already carries too much heartbreak
and any dream he had he sought to bury this night
at the end of the woods he had imagined something
until he spied nothing but the tracks of his own footprints
