 | I decided to write this
cause it seems like its been a while since i put down words of mawkish delight
been a while since my pen went to paper and wrote something a little like this...
ive got to be honest, its cause for a while i thought we were going down
that this was all going to be yet another picture perfect fantasy
turned to some melodramatic semi sweet memory
like chocolate melting, left to long and burnt
turned bitter and dark
stark contrast to the days of old when all was right
and i walked through the darkest night with you to light
the way that was true...
sometimes it seems like its coming from behind
laying shadows on the ground and looking back its twenty-twenty
we were right, we were amazing
and weve never been wrong, cause all that we said
it still hangs true ringing through the air
and in my head, i see where we are
and where we are headed
i saw it the first time we went to their house
when introduced as your future spouse
remember the smile on my face, remniscent of the one there now
and i wonder, how did we get so defensive
used to be side by side looking forward
cause we knew there was nothing wrong with us
so might i just suggest, lets watch the sun rise, and the sun fall
lets stand side by side through it all
cause it got us through so much
and it will get us through some more
cause when your looking for a hand, dont look back....
