Some we love would abandon us...it's just the way of the world but one we can never reconcile or get used to. Some deal with things this way to shield their own hearts from hurt at the expense of your heart which they decide is disposable. But there are a precious few who would put their own heart in danger to shield yours: These are your true friends. The other people..though you care for them...weren't sincere and their caring was only shallow. Sometimes we fall in love with the wrong ones and later we only hope it has some meaning for all the pain we had to carry alone. Nice poem for someone so young!
