Voices Of Dread.

Clever, pretty, with many choices,
She was terrified of her inner voices.
Voices that demanded she inflict self harm,
They filled her being with total alarm.

Taken away from family and friend,
Afraid her fragile mind wouldn't mend.
Petrified, lonely and lost,
Would her sanity return at a terrible cost?

Incarcerated in a mental ward,
With nothing familiar to strike a chord.
Her resiliance smothered by prescription drugs,
When all she craved was love and hugs.

Her empty mind like a black abyss,
A normal life she did sanely miss.
All alone, her mind in turmoil,
From a drug environment, she did recoil.

Her medication caused delusion,
Her mind tired from total confusion.
Her mouth drooling from medication,
She constantly suffered from hallucination.

The end of the tunnel, at last a light,
A clever Pyschologist diagnosed her plight,
And helped her win her drug induced fight.
Out of the darkness, she studies with delight.

Emotions are the motivating force in our lives.

This motivation can be productive, empowering and creative, or it can be addictive, negative and abusive.

Whether we are happy or sad, healthy or diseased, liberated or imprisoned in our own mentally created hell, depends upon our ability to manage our emotions.

Our emotions are constantly manipulated by advertising and politics, trying to sell us wares and sway our opinion. Rather than providing practical training to control the mind, our culture medicates everyone from preschool children to seniors because they lack the tools to adapt to emotional pressure.

I prefer meditation over medication, sedation tends to find complacency.

Err...pass.

Millions are prescribed tranquilizers, antidepressants and other mood-modifying drugs; or they self-medicate with alcohol, 'recreational drugs' and countless other addictive substances or activities.

Your verse touches upon the reality of disassociation, yeah, yer got some valuable nuerons knockin' around that 'ead of yers, that's fer sure, but more so, yer have beautiful empathy and compassion beating from yer heart.

Aye, this is a sad un, very moving verse.

Great word choices, flow, rhymes

Check, check, check...

Take care,

'Anna

Hi Anna,

Many thanks for your observations.

My neurons were set off by a true story in one of the Daily's and thankfully the girl pulled through her mental anguish.

If I set off one of my neutrons I'm in BIG trouble.

Take care over there.

John.
