Valentine Lies

I gave to you.....a heartshaped box of candy
You gave it back.....said I no longer made you happy
I got down on my knees.....and said I love you
You told me to leave.....that there's somebody new

I lifted my head.....with a tear in my eye
You said don't pretend.....your only reply
I picked up the candy.....and just walked away
Bringing back memories.....of our yesterdays

Now I'm sitting here alone.....eating her candy
Wondering how her heart.....could take it so easy
This year it was me.....who got the surprise
With Valentine chocolates and Valentine lies

I untied my box.....my memories of her
Choked back my tears.....and said me a prayer

So I started a fire.....stared at the flames
Watching our love..... just burn away
I dropped to me knees.....wiped a tear from my eye
