 | I was watching him, waiting for his reaction. Maybe he would smile, maybe he would even punch the wall. It wasn't too much to freak anyone out... maybe it was.
Let me start with the beginning. I was new to this school, and I met one of my best friends I would ever have, who I will refer to as Shippo. Well, I had been crushing on this boy for ever since the school year started and I had met him. And it was pitiful, I had dated his friend about five times, which was completely lame, I was insane. This kid who I happened to really like, I'll call him Tucker... I heard he liked me, from who other than my cousin and my best friend, Shippo, who happened to be neighbors with Tucker.
I was shy at first, but of course, being a tom-boy, I always did things to get people to notice me, jumping off of buildings, and doing dumb stunts, but yet I wondered... Shippo had told me he liked me. I was sure he didn't though. Of course, I really liked him, so I hoped. One day, Shippo came up to me, and told me to ask him if he liked me. Of course, I chickened out. As a crush, and in Junior High, you never, NEVER ask anyone if they like you right out. Unless you're him.
I was walking to class, and I bumped into Tucker. He looked at me, and he let it slip. "Alyce, do you like me?" I blushed and looked at him but he was inspecting his own shoes. I nodded as he glanced at me. His smile brightened, and I smiled back. The warning bell run and we ran to class.
Later that week, actually, a Friday, Tucker called me. I didn't know his number, though. Even though we had caller ID I still had no clue. "Hey, is Alyce there?"
"Speaking..." I said, and it was silent for a little while.
"Well, this is going to be awquard, but... will you go out with me?" Tucker said. I blushed for a few seconds, and he said, "Well, don't reply now, but uh, call me back sometime..." I said, "Sure" and we hung up. I was by now, choking on my pride. I mean, sure, I had been asked out by the most beautiful boy, by my opinion, and he was nervous... I mean, HE was nervous. I stared at the wall, and I pictured Shippo's face. She looked at me, and said, told ya so.
A week later, Tucker and I were dating, and for some odd reason, Shippo and him never got along. One day I cornered Tucker and asked him about it. He and Shippo had been at eachother's throats all week.
"She tricked me the first time this happened, and when you didn't reply when I asked you out, I thought she tricked me again...." Tucker told me about how she had told him a girl liked him that he liked... if you understand, and he asked her out... but to his humiliation, she said no. It turned out she really did like him, but to a certain extent. I went to see to it myself. I later told him her side, and she said that she thought it was a prank.
Tucker and I have been dating for about three months now. I truly think, and I hope, that this is my soul-mate. | |
