Tears sometimes say what words cannot that was the thought that 25 years had brought more important than the silver pendant I bought more subtle than the poem I wrote warmer than a winter coat Tears from both her eyes and mine as if from a caged and long-stored wine Tears we found hard to hide Tears that overcame pride Tears for the once happy days Tears for the sad Tears for the times we were false Tears for the things we lost or never had but these honest tears of care said so much more that there is still some care in hearts worn and sore and the poem I handed to her brought some more so we cried and the plans we had to dine we left them for another day and time It was the first emotion in a long time a gentle kiss and a tear to mark the passing time an unspoken gesture to mark the moment in time that will be rembered somewhere down the line and so the plans of life fall mostly to chance and fate and happenstance such is the unknown journey of a life that's been shared void of lover's romance but through forgiveness that's never plainly said caring hadn't died and wasn't dead There are happy tears and there are sad but the sweetest tears are cried for simple care never expressed one didn't know they had
