1. PvP - Player versus Player

Many have been drawn to the game for its true PvP experience while Age of Conan has much to offer PvE players. On PvP servers players may kill NPCs, but they may also kill each other. For this reason, your travels become far more dangerous. In addition to keeping an eye open for NPCs, you must also watch for other players, which can at times become quite tricky due to the "Hiding" skill. Some players can remain hidden and seemingly come out of no where. PvP players must remain alert at all times. Upon your death you will receive a temporary decrease in stats.

 
While you do not receive XP for a player kill, PvP adds new challenges to the game as you are battling against a thinking and often unpredictable human. In addition, you may be killed by much higher level players. Fortunately there are some safe zones within Hyboria. These safe zones include:

All zones in Tortage except White Sands Island and Underhalls

Old Tarantia - Aquilonia Main City

Khemi - Stygia Main City

Cimmeria Settlement - Cimmeria Main City

If you are going to participate in PvP then there are a few terms you should become familiar with.

2. PK - Player Kill

Camper - Someone who stays in a specific area for the purpose of killing NPCs which carry valuable resources, or an area where they can repeatedly kill lower level players.

Griefer - Someone who gains pleasure from your displeasure, often a higher level player killing lower level players.

Gank - The unfair killing of a player by a stronger player or group of players.

If you are going to join a PvP server there are a few points you should be aware of.

It will take you longer to gain levels.

You will die often.

Your death will not always be a fair one.

Expect to hear trash talking.

It's kill or be killed, trust no one.
So far there is no real reward or penalty for a Player Kill, but this may change as Age of Conan matures.
