Serenity

The stars had never shown so bright

Until I saw your face

And the fireflies flew twice as high

To get from place to place

And as the trees would sway I knew they’d say

You could be my saving grace

They could tell it by the smile on my face

The whisper through the trees

Knew the truth of you and me

And the darkness that surrounded me

Was still light enough to see

That old memories may make you cry

But the new can make you breathe

In a whole new way, a new serenity

So I pray that future memories

Bring a smile to my face

That this cruel world could never see

Because I’m in a sacred place

Of happiness defying human race
