Love is complicated. We love someone because we love them and later we want them to jump through hoops to please us and to own them while we bemoan what we're giving up for them or suffering for them.

I know the hurt you speak of very well. It's this: you found your special one but they didn't see the same in you and there is nothing that makes this empty feeling go away. It takes a long time for this sad rejection to heal because it's not just the rejection....it's the dream you feel in your heart and it felt so bright and now feels shattered and that's so hard to bear alone.

Keep your love....he shouldn't be able to take that. But give up the dream and give your heart time to mourn. If he should come back....you'll take him back because you love him but you must do so without the dream....if the dream is to ever be again he'll have to build it for you so you can believe again as you did.
