 | We met in grade school
on the football feild at lunch,
I was always playing baseball
the shortstop of the bunch
You were in gymnastics
doing cartwheels on the feild,
impressing one another
you caught my first appeal
Years went by, I moved away
without forgeting friendship,
calling every now and then
your feeling was important
I moved back for college
asking if we'd ever meet,
with acceptence of that offer
my heart skipped a beat
Couldnt control the love I had
falling out of line,
You were very nice about it
at that given time
Yet, I should have relized
your focus was on school,
wanting time to spend with you
feeling like a fool
Couldnt express the love I had
trying not to distract you,
Selfish was a good discription
for not following proper action
Only gift I feel I gave
was negative if that,
I didn't respect the time you needed
I take off my hat
learning from your gift, I have
with complete respect for you,
next time that I fall in love
