Just after the New Year

a sad newsstory I did hear

the kind of story that makes your spirits slump

about the search for a baby in a city dump

Eventually an infant boy was found

after they searched all around to the area around

where the suspected truck had dropped its load in the cold

and here's how the story has seemed to unfold

A young girl of only 16 from a broken home

had first lived with her mom in Colorado

her pregnancy by an adult man, unknown

then she was sent away to conditions sad to live with her dad

Sent to Tacoma, WA to live with her Drug addicted dad

Four other men shared the same pad, and I found that equally bad

So one day before New Year's Eve they belive she gave birth alone

in the bathroom of this home and what fear she must have felt desperate and sad

It's believed the boy was born alive and roomates attest to hearing the cries

The coronor reports that the baby was held under and drowned head-first in the toilet; then died

And I can't imagine the feelings this girl had inside as later she cried

Desperate enough to kill him, dispose of him in the trash and hide

The girl though she could cover up her deadly slip

and it was later aknowledged that the father also had knowledge

but the other adults and their girl all bit and sealed their lip

until one of the roomates calle police with a tip

This same sad scenario is playing out time after time

to me its the saddest possible crime

that devalues life to save one's own peril and strife

and it sickens others to sadness and crying

This was the second case I heard in 2008

so if there were 2 there were many more, and for the children help was too late

But saddest of all and most ironic:  that in most every state ..

the hospitals will take abandoned children free, no questions asked, as wards of the state

Something is terribly wrong with society

because this is happening all over the world

but you can't blame in alone on a broken home and anxiety

You can talk till your blue about a mothers right to choose

but that's an argument increasingly difficut to now defend:

the tollerance and justification that leads to devaluing life

and indirectly influenced condeming an innocent child to his barbaric and heartless end

this is apparantly the message such liberal laws send and I think they should be abolished and end
(just my opinion-  that babiles are regarded increasingly as disposable and I ask WHY???)
 

This thinking that a newborn or unborn is nothing...pervades society

It's a result of casualness, selfishness and lack of morality

And now there is not one victim but many more untold

As these sad stories with greater frequency around the world unfold

I think others need to become more outspoken and bold

Because an unborn child has rights and value ....it should be told
