Never Pay A Toll

There’s evil all around us
Money is the root
Cash seems to control us
This I know is true

Decisions being made
By the greed within us all
Our conscience is corrupted
When “Mighty Dollar” makes the call

We will never win the war
But it doesn’t seem to matter
Young troops are sent to die
As someone’s wallet’s getting fatter

Our character is purchased
And our principals extracted
Our beliefs are double-crossed
As promises are being retracted

We must come to our senses
Make decisions with your heart
Money won’t bring happiness
It just tears your soul apart

Stop selling your good nature
Don’t auction your good sense
Don’t trade dignity for dollars
Or your pride for twenty cents

Refuse the devils deals
Don’t let him buy your soul
Take a ride with Jesus Christ
And you’ll never pay a toll.
