Love should be like that

I used to skip rocks across a pond
watched and wondered how they floated
Without the aid of a magic wand
Each bounce I counted and noted

Was it the strength of the throw?
Or was it just the right angle?
How much I wished to somehow know
The mystery I would untangle

But the more I thought I knew
The less I really did
Everything was fresh and new
And I was just a kid

Someday I'll have a love like that
One that brings unbridled joy
As mysterious as a cat
Love that reminds me of the boy
