She was average- she wasn’t enough
But, throughout her whole lifetime- she seemed to hold up
No one saw behind her smile- or behind her laughs and jokes
No one saw all of the pain- inside her wounded soul
She had people to sit with- and laugh while doing work
They were not her friends though- they couldn’t tell that she was hurt
In school she would walk the halls- desperate trying not to cry
She did her best to smile- as she held the tears beneath her eyes.
When playing sports, and picking teams- she was the last one to be chosen
When people laughed and whispered things, she had more hurt and pain unspoken
She had sisters to measure up to- although she never could
All popular and pretty- she knew she never would
You see she was a loser- a loner and a nerd
No one wanted her around- and in the halls, that’s what she heard
Why wasn’t she accepted- she accepted every one else
No one gave her chance to shine- they just decided to leave her out
Day and night she would tell God- all about her dreams
She wanted so much from life- and waited patiently
It wasn’t that he didn’t hear her- he didn’t ignore her plea
She knew that somewhere up in heaven- God was listening
So why couldn’t wouldn’t the kids stop talking- about her behind her back
Why couldn’t she become someone- who would never be left out?
It was because she didn’t try- to step out of her box
To afraid of the rejection- and that’s why she was lost
In a world of goals and dreams of hers- that she wouldn’t ever reach
She had to learn from her mistakes- and then people she would meet.
