In a heartbeat
I saw your soul
and fell headlong.

In a heartbeat
you opened up your arms
and caught my falling soul,
opening a well
deeper than I'd ever known.

In a heartbeat
our souls became mated,
our hearts became joined
and now they beat as one.

In a heartbeat
the world crashed in
and reintroduced a void
deeper than this ocean between us
and wider than the universe.

And still-
In a heartbeat
I would gladly give it all to you-
my heart, my soul, my future
just to hear
your heart beat.
