I remember when it was you and me

Even though it has been a while

I remember how you looked at me

With those eyes and that sexy smile

I remember talking for 3 months on line

Then we met at Monument Hill

We both found someone to call mine

And from then on in it was such a thrill

I remember cruising around in the ford

The things we did the time we shared

The sex that made me say “oh lord”

The dozens of flowers that said you cared

I remember you said “I’ve found my fish”

My heart thumped hard, I shed a tear

I should’ve realised I’d been granted my wish

Instead I panicked and ran in fear

I remember the day I broke your heart

Something inside me just wasn’t right

Then I realised I’d loved you from the start

And how you always held me so close & tight

I remember the decision I wanted to renege

I tried so hard to believe it was best

But I came to realise I’d messed up big

Now left to wear the burden upon my chest

I remember hoping time would help heal
