As the year draws to a close
And Christmas ever near
I look at how far we’ve come
And how much has changed this year

The star up on the Christmas tree
Lit up by the flashing lights
Watches over as we celebrate
And makes everything feel right

I look up at the Christmas tree
At the little flashing lights
My sister dances round the tree
And my dad laughs in delight

It is the nights like these
When my family comes together
That’ll last me for a lifetime
And I’ll hold onto forever

All the little things we do
Each means so much to me
From eating grandma’s roast
To the gifts beneath the tree

It’s the traditions that I hold to
That make the Christmas spirit live
For me Christmas is about
The presents that we give

And though it’s not that easy
These days, more than ever
We share dinner ‘round a table
When our family comes together

I look back at the things we’ve done
And how we all have grown
I see that this year has been tough
One of the hardest I have known

While we look around us
We’ve seen so many couples fall
Our circle’s always changing
And it’s hard to lose them all

Another year has passed us by
Since Timmy went away
But our hearts were reignited
When Jack-Jack came to stay

Although our dreams have not been reached
And stepping stones keep growing
We have somewhere to call a home
And enough to keep us going

Christmas is a time of joy
A time we have to try
To put aside our hurts
So the spirit doesn’t die

This year has been a challenge
I’ve loved, I’ve lost, I’ve grown
But with my family by my side
I’ve never been alone

So once again I have to say
any gift I may receive
cannot replace my happiness
my family brings to me
