Dreams of a Mexican

My dreams are not the same as very one else
Where I come from,
No one has dreams it’s a struggle with just staying alive
Deal with that comes next. Words I hear everyday
every day, when i leave the house mi percina with the sign of the cross praying i'll come home safe and alive.
Taught I want a future it is cause I am a Mexican that makes it
Harder it is cause I am Mexican I have to work twice or even
Three times harder then everyone else.
See for what they don’t see it that cause I am Mexican I’ve been
Stereotyped
I’ve been told what I can and cant do
Cant and can active
My destiny has been set
Cause I am Mexican?
You say I belong on the streets?
I belong gangbanging,a gun in my hand, and even in Mexico?
Being nothing but a “chola”?
And cause I am Mexican my people are all immigrants
But to be dead and put down from is far most worst
I laugh in everyone’s face and put a smile one
“How can u not be mad?”
the answer is so simple
it is cause I am Mexican I can over come this
it is cause I am Mexican I can past this
I was taught never to give up for what you believe
I was taught cause I am Mexican it would be difficult
Cause from dirt comes a beautiful flower
No matter were I am I thank it to my streets
It is cause of my streets I have my roots
It is cause of my streets it give my the strength to stand up to anything
I see my people in the felids, buildings, in homes and no matter what they fight to make it somewhere
The great food we have today
The great workers we have today
I see how us being all immigrants only made us grow strong
No matter what there’s people that try to bring you down if its not the opposite cooler then its your same color
Always staying negative never letting go of all the comments
And that it breaks my heart a good life wasted by stubbornness
So this is a message to all my Latinos out there that have the passion to become something else then “cholo” or “chola”
And that is the biggest step you’ll over come, breaking away from all the stereotypes
Showing good examples to those around you.

WOW girl this is an awesome poem. And it's the truth just cause we are Mexicans or Latinos we are stereotyped to be gangbangers or ppl think our men belong in prisons. Well chale it's time to bing up our heritage or valores in life too. Awesome, awesome poem.
