Downtown hurried Monday
Your soft glance had stopped me in my tracks
Your smile had come to me in light
and brought the moment crashing back.

I watched you in your come hither dance
Amused electric circimstance
as if you knew me through and through
and watched me as I came unglued.

Tuesday morning full of steam
Last night you were in my dreams
Today would be the day we'd meet
but you left me to standing in the street.

My heart deflated walked to work
Confusion sinking in my shirt
How  could I be such a jerk
to let you get away.

Weeks had passed without a sign
I had all but given up all hope
You have been dancing in my dreams
I have been walking my tightrope.

And there you were that fateful day
Your stunning graceful ways unfurled
Standing in the hallway waiting
marshmellow and candy curves.

and me with false bravado strolled
Inside I had run to you
Words had failed me just as well
and stuttered "how are you"

Your giggling eyes collecting me
Your warm sunrise erecting me
like two thieves in the night
we stole away from prying eyes.
