 | Candy and Nuts
To covet dreams of how you wish That your life should have been
I must say, it's the best way To waste the life you're in
The scorching Sun would never try To be cool like the Moon
Nor does time resent itself When it goes by too soon
Frogs don't play with Lincoln Logs And cats don't like to fly
Slugs and bugs don't have high hopes Which reach the stellar sky
It seems it's just us humanoids Who seldom are content
So our lives we'll scrutinize To self impose lament
People only want a change Because we fail to see
That we'll always dream, 'what was' 'What if, and 'what should be'
If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts Then every day'd be Christmas
Its just some candy coated lie We tell our discontentments
