A discussion about death

THIS POEM HAS BEEN DELETED - MAY BE FOUND ON THE WEB
BY SEARCHING FOR POEMS BY JAMES T. ADAIR

A person made a comment about his dog's death and recounted how difficult his passing was.  He told of how the dog was suddenly struck with a brief but progressive illness that resulted in pain, kidney failure and eventually the decision was made that the dog should be euthanized rather than suffer the devasting effects of the illness (as only days were left).  The man said goodbye to his dog and cried as the dog slept peacefully and felt his last pulse in his front leg.  The comment had been made to underscore the suddeness of illness and the sadness associated with the loss.  The second man said.... What I went through was much worse, as my dog lasted six months with an illness and I had to administer IVs and then in the end the dog passed away.

The first man said...Death is always difficult....At least you had more time to show your dog how much you loved him.

I'm sorry to hear about your grand da. The thing is we'll all be that one day...either grand da's or facing death. If you loved him when he was alive I'm sure he knew that but it was nice that you asked your mom to send your love.
Death is always hard and final.

But what we share with others in life is what remains of us. Another reason to be kinder to others or to try a little harder in life. Because I think it matters.

Anyway, feel better and thank you for commenting!
