Competing with wisdom

Competing with wisdom for our attention is folly. "Folly" is seductive. "Folly" promises us all we ever wanted - pleasure, excitement, a life of ease. We never seem to learn that "folly" is a fraud. Instead of enjoying the excitement we are promised, we are left unfilfilled. Instead of pleasure, we have pain. Instead of ease, we live with anxiety.
