The Dance

We've danced this dance
So long it seems
When will it ever end?

Are you the one
My love, my life
Or are you just a friend?

One step forward
I feel the heat
You pull me close to you.

Two steps back
We both pretend
Our feelings are not true.

And so the music
Stops and starts
And it's nobody's fault

But how much longer
Must we dance
This heartwrenching waltz?
