Independence Day

On July 4, 1776, the thirteen northern states adopted the Declaration of Independence. Since then Independence Day is the chief official holiday. It’s also one of the popular and favorite national holidays. This day Americans organize the fireworks shows and hang out the national flag of the USA.The Second Continental Congress being in session in Philadelphia approved the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The Declaration declared the creation of independent country and it was the United States of America. Thomas Jefferson, a Virginian grower and lawyer, one of the outstanding figures of the Revolutionary War, was the author of the Declaration. For Jefferson, the separation from England was not only the independence achievement but also a means to build up a state based on the people supremacy and a natural equality.

The Declaration of Independence proclaimed the principle of popular sovereignty as a basis for the state structure. The declaration also asserted the people’s rights to an uprising against the oppressors, as well as rights to life, freedom, and equality. That’s why this holiday is celebrated in the USA as Independence Day.

There are wonderful fireworks shows in every city of the US on this holiday. Most Americans cook barbecues and have a rest.
