An Amazing Personal Feat

I wonder what he's feeling
What thoughts consume his mind
What pain dwells beneath his eyes
So beautiful and so kindCautiously I’m drawn to know
What's hidden by his smile
He has touched my heart and given me hope
That's escaped me for a while

I long to hold his hand
Feel his breath upon my face
Wrap my arms around him
And protect him from this place
Show him love without demands
Experience each new taste
Remind him he has a gift to give
This desperate human race

A journey so cruel for one so young
But this is all he knows
Missing one ingredient
To guide him as he grows
For all he's lost, he has gained so much
Compensation is so sweet
He now shines brighter than most of us
An amazing personal feat

One day he'll be proud, he must
Search inwards to be complete
believe in himself and not give up
And never accept defeat.
