Hurricane Katrina

With swirling power
The waters came
With a raging torrent
That no hand can tame

Devastating the cities
Lying in the south
Swallowing the land
With a hungry mouth

What was once home
Now flows in the sea
Cities who were alive
Now flow in debris

What was once there
You will find no more
Families’ possessions
All washed to shore

The wrath of God
Can happen anywhere
Can happen here
As it happened there

We may say
How can this happen here
But we can't grow weary
And allow our heart to fear

Man and technology
Couldn’t stop the wrath of God
He sees the decay of sin
On this land that we trod

It is God's warning to all
That He's coming very soon
May be morning's new dawn
In night's dusk or even at noon

So prepare your heart
For what lies ahead
Pray for those who live
And let us rejoice instead
