 | I am a serious hopeless romantic, the kind who always has stars in her eyes, and wants to kiss only in the moonlight. I guess its ironic then how I met him. I was camping with my family and was a complete mess, straggly hair and all, not that I am hideous but really it was not my most flattering moment. While on the beach of the lake I started talking to a girl who looked about my age, it was a month before my 15th birthday, within five minutes being the ridiculous gossips we were we knew each other’s life stories. It quickly became clear we shared one obsession, boys. I admit it I have always been a flirt, a tease, and somewhat boy crazy, but that’s only when I found out that they could want me too.
While tanning there we spotted a guy he was with his friends swimming throwing a ball and just generally having a good time. When he finally spotted our barely concealed stares he waved, but none of us thought much of it.
Then when we were sitting in her car in the front seat doing our make-up he came back, and we started talking. The chemistry between us was instant and obvious. I always believed in love at first sight, but I never thought it would happen to me. I had a boyfriend then, but as this guy lived in another city I didn’t think I would have a chance ever again. I am sorry for what I did to my boyfriend but missing out on love would hurt far more. When he kissed me the Harlequin’s started to make sense (not that I like those), but the shivers went down my spine and I knew it could never be another man.
Over two years later we still talk and see each other every few months when he is in town, but lately the distance has been killing me, I miss him. I hope this story will someday have a happy ending but for now our friendship will have to be enough, until tomorrow…
