Unclosed Doors

While I sit out here in the sun
Remembering what once was
My heart aches for what could have been
Free from the tears shed over youOnly to have new tears fall
From thinking about what I now should do
Guess I should head on inside
Lay down my head and cry
And plan on shutting those unclosed doors.
Unclosed doors-Letting old memories in
Unclosed doors-Not allowing a new life to begin
Everything remaining the same
Can’t block out the pain
Pain coming from every pore
Can’t seem to close those unclosed doors.
Your face haunts my every thought
Your smile that I long to see
Freedom from my pain that’s often sought
Will it ever become easier to cope
How can I heal my broken heart
Only with strength, time and hope

Seems as though the bitter end would be sweet
